Umicore invest in the Opole region. The most technologically advanced battery components for electric vehicles will be created in Poland. It is thanks to the investment of Umicore, which today was symbolically inaugurated in Radzikowice in the Opole region, where up to 400 people will find work.
The components to be built at the Umicore factory allow more energy to be stored and the range for an electric car to be increased. The ceremony of laying the foundation stone for the investment took place on Tuesday.
We are very much involved in the transformation process towards electric mobility. We are a leading supplier of cathode materials in electric transport, which is why it is so important for us to be able to reach customers in various regions of the world – added Umicore president Marc Grynberg.
The new components factory for the production of cathodes for lithium-ion batteries for the automotive industry and other sectors in which energy storage systems are used, will be built on an area of 72 ha in the next few months.The factory will be built in Radzikowice in the Opole region, a few kilometers north of Nysa.
Production is expected to start at the end of 2020. Outside the production area, the investor intends to launch a research and development center for the global needs of the company.
