It’s impressive. A few meters high flamingo will soon become an attraction in Tampa, Florida. This is one of the seven sculptures that will decorate this airport. They have a classic wow effect on tourists who come to Florida.
Hillsborough County Aviation Authority had a real challenge, because the seven best sculptures had to choose from 734 proposals prepared by local and foreign artists.
“Home” or “home” is the title of the sculpture by Matthew Mazzott. A hand-carved flamingo looks like it has submerged its head under the surface of the water, which is the ceiling at the airport. Soon it will be possible to admire it in the main airport terminal.
“We are more than just a place where people just pass through – we are the first and last impression from the Tampa Bay region,” said Joe Lopano, airport director general. “Art is key to feeling the place and leaving our guests with unique and engaging experiences “.
The flamingo cost 520 thousand dollars, including all the sculptures that will appear at the airport, cost several million dollars. These will include ten-meter mosaic with sunset or coral reef sculpture.
